dblo associates are dedicated to creating and enhancing value through design

dblo associates architects Clapham, London, have been in operation since 1998. The architectural team encompasses years of experience which means that together they provide a vast range of knowledge and expertise which they bring to each and every one of their projects. Over and above their years of experience which sets them up to be fore-runners within their industry, is their belief that the quality of a person’s surroundings directly influences the quality of that person’s life. This means that whether it’s a public environment, a work environment or our homes, the buildings that we see, work, live and play in, all have influence over our lives.

This may seem like a strange way of looking at it but if we examine this closely, it starts to appear to be quite accurate and realistic. In a recent study, called The Value of Good Design, we learn how buildings and spaces create social and economic value. After a poll was taken in the early 2002, stats and figures were analysed to produce a consist view of how people consider well designed buildings or spaces as having a positive influence over their lives. Apply this to all areas of life and we can see that it is not just our homes which have great importance in our live but so too does our work environment …where we often spend a vast majority of time, sometimes more than we do at home. Having a positive influence on our lives means that not only does the space we surround ourselves with affect our emotional sense of well-being, but it also impact our levels of productivity and physical well-being. It also means that the general value of our life improves and socially the broader community benefits from lower crime rates and better property values. There is no question that the better the environment, the higher the person’s quality of life becomes but we really can extend that to a deeper mind set of well –being and prosperity.

Wouldn’t it be unpleasant to work every day in a space that had no windows to the outdoors? One might feel trapped and engulfed by the workspace. Ergonomically we cannot work well unless the physical set up of the space is suitable to allow us to perform our jobs optimally. Aesthetically, one would naturally function better in a workspace with colour and light than in one without. Similarly, a school would not promote ease of education and learning and pupils would not achieve as highly as those with the benefits of good design. The small things really can have the largest effect on a person’s psyche.

This is what dblo architects Fulham is all about… ensuring that not only are their projects executed with a highest levels of expertise and accuracy but that as a design project, they offer the very best opportunity to explore the lifestyle benefits of quality design. Dblo architects explore the concept of postmodern architecture within their designs, creating buildings and spaces which exceed expectations and creating and enhancing value through design.

Create your own business identity

Explore the latest design in retail architects London with dblo Associates, known for their leading edge in commercial designs.

Whether it’s to design shopping malls, grocery stores, hairdressers, offices dblo Associates have the professionalism and expertise required through their innovative team trained in building design.

Much consideration is taken for each individual project as the architect’s main focuses are usually accessibility and productivity. He or she must design with two groups in mind — the staff and clients. These two groups of people use the same space simultaneously, but for different purposes. Their needs, preferences, and attitudes regarding that space can greatly differ.

Retail architects Mayfair can also help a company establish a visual identity by using unique materials to design a retail space, such as adding hardwood floors where tiles are normally used. Some professionals give stores themes that capitalize on the business’ specialty. Others use colours in significant places, such as the roof, so that people can readily identify a particular store’s location.

With many years of experience in architecture, having completed hundreds of projects dblo Associates rank one of the best architects in London.

Grand Designs Live London are pleased to have DBLO Associates exhibiting this year

DBLO after

Creative living at its best!

This small terraced cottage in South West London is a gem of a project - humble and modest at a glance, with the potential to sparkle. Commissioned by a visitor to last year's Grand Designs Live, the Architects responsible for making 'the worst house on the street' shine, were Grand Designs Live London based exhibitors DBLO Associates architects Fulham.

Folding glass doors replaced the exterior kitchen wall, small window and door – allowing light and life to seamlessly flow through the house from outside in and vice versa and creating a flush floor threshold with the same floor finish inside and outside. The highly insulated extension with cedum green roof incorporates western red cedar timber cladding, which frames the glass opening - maintaining the nostalgia and personality of the cottage, whilst adding new contemporary and eco credentials to the property. Given a limited budget and the fact that it had to include a first floor extension, two bathrooms and full redecoration, the design team sought to use readily available, affordable materials and products including tiles, flooring and lighting. 'The kitchen came from IKEA and the tiles from Topps Tiles'- Claire Hale (Partner) - which kept cost low whilst cleverly detailed style remained high and resulted in this flexible and bespoke living space which will be enjoyed year round during family time and for entertaining.

DBLO before

DBLO architects Clapham worked closely with the client to make their Grand Design a reality - proving that budget doesn't have to be an obstacle, that with good interpretation of your clients brief, an innovative approach and imagination - you can achieve a grand solution that suits you. The total cost for this project excluding VAT came in at £145,000.

DBLO Associates Architects will be exhibiting at the show in May. Find them in Grand Build stand B21
