Excellent value for money for premium quality marquees

Tips for Wedding Marquees:

This is in addition to marquee wedding articles written by us for confetti.co.uk

Furniture:

  • Unlike marquees furniture is usually too expensive to buy so hiring is the usual solution
  • Use 5ft 6inch round tables to seat 10 people not 5ft ones (which can be cramped with 10 guests)
  • Use a mixture of smaller tables to create an informal atmosphere (see this article on seating)
  • Use a long top table for a traditional feel. It would normally be positioned against one side of the marquee.
  • Use a round top table for a more social and informal atmosphere. It would normally be positioned in the middle of the marquees with other guests all around.
  • Use an oval top table for a more sociable option to a long top table. It would normally be positioned against one side of the marquee with seating on three sides leaving the front clear for guests to see the happy couple.
  • Remember an easel for table plans (or two for larger functions)
  • Allow somewhere for ladies to put their hats, either a table or clips around the side of the marquee
  • Allow somewhere to put wedding presents (a table in the marquee or in the house)

Dance Floors:

  • Like furniture dance floors can be prohibitively expensive to purchase to hiring or making yourself (18mm plywood screwed to battens and stained) are the most common solutions
  • Alternatively if your marquee is to cover part of a patio or decking area that can be used as a dance floor
  • Do you want dancing to be the centre of attention after the meal (in which case have it in the middle of the marquee) or do you want to have an area for people to sit away from the dancing? (in which case have the dance floor at one end)
  • If the dance floor is in the middle it is often sensible to position the top table on the dance floor and then clear after using (top tables are rarely used after the meal as everyone is circulating)
  • A dance floor (without top table on) makes an ideal emergency greeting area in poor weather

Other:

  • Set the marquee up several days in advance and test the lighting and heating (if applicable) at the time of your function just to make sure both are sufficient.
  • People (mainly blokes) will always congregate around the bar. For this reason always position it near the evenings entertainment to avoid having two parties. Always aim to keep everyone in one place to maintain the atmosphere so avoid putting the bar in the house or a separate marquee
  • Always have lighting on a dimmer, this gives you the flexibility to supply lighting to eat by and mood lighting to dance by
  • In October to April you will need to heat the marquee (see this article on heating your marquee)- have the heating on for an hour before people arrive to ensure they walk in to a wall of warmth
  • In May to September you might need a heater just to take the chill off in the seating area later in the evening
  • Think of how your guests will arrive - a simple path of carpet with flower pots makes an attractive and inviting entrance to the marquee
  • Think of how your guests will leave - it's likely to be dark so some form of lighting will be needed to guide people back to their cars
  • You would normally allow one toilet per 40-50 guests. If you don't have enough available then consider hiring in a luxury toilet unit
  • Give neighbours plenty of notice especially if you plan on partying until the early hours
  • Notify the police, it may sound extreme but it allows them to give informed responses (such as finishing time) to any complaint rather than come knocking on your doors.

We are always happy to offer more customised advice especially Tips for evening party marquees events, please contact us giving a few details of the event you are planning (type of event, space available, number of guests and diagrams/photographs of the site if possible) and we will be more than happy to advise on your options.

Toys Donated to Bellfields “Little Fishes” Play Group by J.Monk & Sons

Lodge Brothers are an amazing company by supporting their local community as far as possible. They never miss an opportunity to get involved and assist where they are most needed. They are an integral part of the community either raising funds, supporting worthy causes, running competitions or visiting the local schools or aged homes. Be it Lodge Brothers funeral directors Ashford or any of the other Lodge Brothers branches they are always happy to give a helping hand.

Read what they have been doing recently in their community –

Toys Donated to Bellfields “Little Fishes” Play Group by J.Monk & Sons

J.Monk & Sons of Guildford have always been very supportive of local community projects, so when we were approached by St Peters Shared Church, Bellfields to help out with the “Little Fishes” toddler group, we were only too pleased.

We began by sending out an appeal to our staff for the donation of toys suitable for 1-4 year olds. The response was overwhelming and the toys come tumbling in!

Bellfields is one of the most deprived areas in Surrey, so having somewhere safe for children to play and learn is a great community asset.

Beverley Lodge and Paul Bye spent a few hours with the children handing over prams, ride-on toys, dolls, a trampoline, building blocks and aprons for painting and crafting, amongst other items, and had a great time. The children were delighted to be able to help unpack the boxes and see what was inside.

Karen Collins who assists with the running of Little Fishes said, “It was really kind of J Monk & Sons to support our toddler group. We keep our attendance fees very low at just £1 per family, in order that children from underprivileged families are still able to come. Many of the toys that we have are old, and it’s hard for us to keep up with replacing broken ones because funds are very limited. To have new toys donated is brilliant and it really helps us keep things fun for the children.”

Lodge Brothers serving the community for over 200 years, providing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to funeral arranging giving the best advice possible. They have a large range of floral tributes, bespoke memorials, coffins & urns and Headstones. It’s your day in every way, celebrate your special day with a themed marquee party

A BEAUTIFUL GOURMET WEDDING RECEPTION IN THE SURREY HILLS

Marquee Hire had the honour of providing a marquee for a special wedding, here’s what Justin from Catered by Justin had to say about the day.

Summer Wedding

Rob and Laura had a sneaky wedding at the register office in Sunny Surrey, but then came the full-on blessing in a farmer’s field 15 miles away where we held a marquee for ninety-eight guests.

It’s 10am and another day begins for the Catered by Justin team. The chefs have to get to the farm early as we always cook the meat slow and low from scratch on site. It’s better that way, of course.

Fabulous food platter for a Wedding

At noon the first of the ‘front of house’ crew turn up to chill down the wines, put up and decorate the tables, lay out the glassware and set up the bar. We always have this done in plenty of time so you would never know. The marquee was put up by Marquee Hire Sussex couple of days prior but we have to wait so nothing gets dusty.

At 2pm Rob and his best man arrive at the farm; the rest of the guests trickle in over the next hour and Laura arrives just after 3 o’clock (late, of course). They were all greeted by the mouth-watering aroma of the Dedham Vale beef cooking in our special outdoor oven, attended to by one of our brigade of chefs. Just a little sensory tease of what will be in store for the rest of the day.

As the service draws near, the guests make their way to their seats – bales of straw that blend with the picturesque backdrop of a countryside field here in beautiful Surrey.

It’s approaching 4 o’clock, the service has just ended – short but very sweet. Now all the guests gather outside the marquee for a glass of Sipsmith gin and rose lemonade (a fantastic long drink for a summer’s day) and an exquisite selection of canapés, while the newlyweds have a few photographs taken around the venue. The happy couple then join their guests for a quick chat before the meal (with a difference) is served.

At 5pm the best man boisterously requests that everyone make their way inside the marquee. It takes a good quarter of an hour to get all the guests to their places.

The sharing deli platters are already on the tables (two large dishes on each table of 10 guests) filling the room with colour. Such delectable fare invites the guests to simply tuck in and share; there are no awkward silences when it comes to sharing food.

At quarter to six the starters have been cleared and the bar team quickly top up everybody’s glasses ready for the speeches to begin. Laura decides to do things this way as her dad was really nervous about his speech; once they are all out of the way everybody can relax, enjoy the main course and the rest of the evening.

By half past six Rob and Laura have been suitably toasted and the main course is served – a beautiful gourmet BBQ accompanied by foreribs of succulent beef, sautéed new potatoes with honey and big bowls of seasonal salads, homemade sauces, and some sriracha chili for the more audacious guest. It’s a magnificent spread with a great point of difference to your average wedding offering.

A fine selection of red and white wine is served (approx. three glasses per person), which was provided by Rob and Laura. We did all the chilling down and sorted the glassware for them and, no, we didn’t charge them corkage, by the way.

At 7:30pm it’s time to cut the cake. We provide a lovely log end and sword for this and everybody takes lots of pics. As soon as this is done the cake is taken to the kitchen tent and cut up. On this occasion Rob and Laura opt to use the cake as the dessert, saving themselves quite a bit of cash. The Catered by Justin team just provide the plates, forks and cream.

Portman Square Garden Party

The freshly-brewed coffee, tea and infusions table is also ready at this point. We keep this available all night so people can pop by at any point for a pick-me-up and chill.

It’s now half past eight and time to gather everyone back into the marquee for the first dance… (Not exactly a YouTube sensation on this occasion). The music is provided by a local band called The Modern Apes, whom we actually recommended from a previous wedding. They had to learn the first dance song as it was a lesser-known hit by Blur which was not in their portfolio. Undeterred, they nailed it…

The bar is also now in full swing with a nice draught lager and a cask of ale from the new Wimbledon Brewery. They also have a choice selection of spirits, mixers and softies. The newlyweds provided much of the booze (apart from the lager and ale which we supplied), while the Catered by Justin crew came with all the glassware and ice. The bar itself was also provided by us. Rob also had a couple of bottles of special whiskey and a box of fine cigars to enjoy on the pop-up smoking terrace – a really nice, sophisticated touch.

It’s 11:30pm and people are starting to feel a little peckish after a considerable amount of dancing and the odd tipple. As if by magic a big tray or two of cheese toasties appear – they didn’t last very long…

It’s gone a quarter past midnight, last orders are announced and the music slows down a touch. Shortly after, the bar has closed and the band has played their encore. The taxis have been called. After-party, anyone?

One o’clock, the Catered by Justin team has cleared everything and tidied the marquee from top to bottom. We have loaded all the rubbish and empty bottles into our vans and prepare to leave the farm… Until our next soirée…

Need a date in a hurry?

Dukes of Daisy is a companion rent a friend service which is both safe and affordable option to finding an online date. We pride ourselves in offering the best escorts available throughout the country and a service that is invaluable to our clients.

Whether it’s a date, movie night, function, holiday or a walk through the city our companions will make you feel comfortable and relaxed.

This is what some of our clients had to say about the recent dealings with Dukes of Daisy.

"I was very nervous when first joining the site as I had heard many mixed reviews and was unsure if this was the right path for me.  The sign up procedure was very straight forward, the staff were very informative and friendly which helped me feel at ease with the whole process.

Within my first few weeks of becoming an escort I received very little interest and was starting to wonder if this site was a scam. Once receiving reassurance and ways to update and better my profile from a staff team member, I managed to secure my first booking! The date went amazingly well, from that I gained my first review which lead to many more bookings.

I've met some amazing people, attended events all over London and experienced so many new things. I was made to feel very comfortable on all my bookings by both the client and the staff at Dukes, we always met in public places and was no awkwardness as the site is for companionship purposes only.  I received great feedback from my clients and was always kept up to date through regular contact with the Dukes team. Not to mention the money is great!

After being so sceptical at first I am now extremely pleased with the service, I now have a 12 month subscription and would highly recommend to anyone thinking of becoming an escort." Jason

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

"I was married for 15 years and have now been divorced for 2 years, it's been a very long and stressful process to deal with, mean while having to attend many corporate events through work. I've always attended these events with my husband and the thought of going alone made me very uncomfortable.

A friend of mine recommended hiring an escort as a few of her colleges had done so in the past. At first I laughed, I wasn't too sure about hiring a stranger to accompany me to corporate events, after some gentle persuasion and some positive feedback from other friends who had previously used this service I agreed to check it out.  The site was very easy to use and there was a large variety of escorts to choose from, all of which had photos, price ranges and short biography's  which helped me to choose the right person to accompany me.

I requested a gentleman that seemed well suited to me the booking was made entirely through the agency all I had to do was pick a guy and time and place to meet. I was extremely nervous on the day of, as this was a whole new experience for me, On arrival my date made me feel at ease and was a true gentlemen we actually got on very well, I expected there to be allot of awkwardness as we had never met before but he was very attentive at all times, even my colleagues loved him!

The team at Dukes kept in touch with me and were very reassuring which helped keep my mind at ease as it was my first time using their services.  I am now a regular client of Dukes and am no longer nervous when events come up. I've met some really interesting people, and am looking for my next event!" Susan

dblo Associates enhance living through design

Ancient architecture is characterized by this tension between the divine and mortal world. Cities would mark a contained sacred space over the wilderness of nature outside, and the temple or palace continued this order by acting as a house for the gods. The architect, be he priest or king, was not the sole important figure; he was merely part of a continuing tradition.

dblo Associates architects Kensington are a team of innovative and forward thinking architects who are passionate about the history of architecture and how this influences modern day design.

There is nothing more beautiful than architecture, some of which shapes the world we live in and formed our history. Many architecture buildings or pyramids tell us much about the people who went before us and the history in those times. For instance ancient Egyptian architecture is the architecture of Ancient Egypt, one of the most influential civilizations throughout history, which developed a vast array of diverse structures and great architectural monuments along the Nile, including pyramids and temples. Much of our modern day architecture is based on history.

The well preserved Temple of Horus at Edfu is an example of Egyptian architecture and architectural sculpture.

In Ancient Egypt and other early societies, people believed in the omnipotence of Gods, with many aspects of daily life carried out with respect to the idea of the divine or supernatural and the way it was manifest in the mortal cycles of generations, years, seasons, days and nights.

Due to the scarcity of wood, the two predominant building materials used in ancient Egypt were sun-baked mud brick and stone, mainly limestone, but also sandstone and granite in considerable quantities.

The core of the pyramids consisted of locally quarried stone, mudbricks, sand or gravel. For the casing stones were used that had to be transported from father away, predominantly white limestone from Tura and red granite from upper Egypt.

Ancient Egyptian houses were made out of mud collected from the Nile river. It was placed in molds and left to dry in the hot sun to harden for use in construction.

Many Egyptian towns have disappeared because they were situated near the cultivated area of the Nile Valley and were flooded as the river bed slowly rose during the millennia, or the mud bricks of which they were built were used by peasants as fertilizer.

Thus, our understanding of ancient Egyptian architecture is based mainly on religious monuments, massive structures characterized by thick, sloping walls with few openings, possibly echoing a method of construction used to obtain stability in mud walls.

dblo associates studio brings together a team of architects with a wide experience and knowledge across a variety of project and contract types. dblo associates work covers architecture, interior design and development. working as a studio, allows us the flexibility to expand and contract to suit work loads and to draw on the wider expertise of our associate studios across London. we believe that the quality of our surrounding have a direct influence on the quality of our lives, whether in public, the work place, or the home. dblo associates is an organisation dedicated to creating and enhancing value through design.

The Pyramids of Giza is just one of the many pyramids that have fascinated people for hundreds of centuries. If you are looking to enhance your living though design, look no further than dblo Associates architects Holland Park to help achieve this.

Renew your Body, Mind and Spirit

What is sex therapy?

Sex therapy in mainstream is counselling or other therapy to address a person’s sexual problems that can be psychological or physical.  Sex therapy is often found in alternative medicine such as Tantric therapy that employs Yoni massage.

Natural beauty and pure water              Module 1-img01

What is Tantra?

Tantra is a Sanskrit word that means ‘expansion through awareness’ and it is an ancient Eastern cultural tradition from India, China & Nepal, that uses meditation, breathing exercises, yoga and mantras to weave the spiritual and physical in order to heal. Unfortunately Tantra is often perceived explicit in the mainstream thinking and its healing properties are overlooked.

Tantra holds the key to connection – to create connection to your inner self which in return will allow you to create connection with others and your loved ones. In a society that reminds people to be humane, Tantra will help heal past hurt, as the goal and process of Tantra is to surpass hurt in order to attain happiness and bliss. Tantra is capable of removing the pain induced negative behavior of a person which is also called an Emotional Detox. An Emotional Detox comprises many spiritual, emotional, psychological and physiological benefits.

What is Tantric Therapy?

Tantric therapy is a form of alternative medicine that uses emotions and energetic healing to remove emotional and physical pain. Tantric Journey School of Healing and Awakening masters in Tantric Therapy and employs a Yoni massage. A vaginal massage is called a Yoni massage, is done for women who have experienced sexual, physical or psychological abuse to remove negative traumatic emotions which is also an Emotional Detox.

finding-the-female-g-spot-1

Tantric massage in London varies and some could be misleading and do not hold the essence of the Tantra teaching as they are only intended for pleasure, but whereas the essence of Tantric massages is to heal and connect to higher source energy to live at optimum. This is done by acting as mediator to our client to help the client to remove negative stagnant emotions in the cellular memory in the body’s cells that block the positive energy flow (positive emotions) that contribute to our health, love, happiness and ecstasy.

What is Sex Therapy with Tantra?

Tantra can help in healing past traumas that are either hidden or known. Hidden traumas are accumulated psychological traumas that are imprinted in a person’s psychology and embedded in their behaviour that they are generally unaware of. Known traumas are evident and identifiable by the individual and can be physical abuse, verbal abuse, and sexual violence such as harassment, sexual abuse, rape and discrimination.

The aim of Tantra is to increase the level of sexual desire and intimacy through pleasure. It is the cultivating of sexual energy in the body to connect to the Source or Divine. At Tantric Journey School of Healing and Awakening this is done through a Yoni massage which is Tantric Therapy.

There is a large population of women who cannot enjoy sex, and when this is a problem the woman either has a psychological or a physical (clinical) issue. The later can often be treated with talking therapy and medication but a psychological issue requires tender analysis and treatment to eliminate the root cause of the problem.

Unlike the physical issues that are like neon signs that scream out for remedy, psychological issues tend to be constant shadows that loom around. And more often than not women suppress their sexual problems either out of shame or not to come off as inappropriate in a society that has built its expectations around many demeaning perspectives.

Tantric Journey School of Healing and Awakening calls its Tantric Therapy that employs a Yoni massage a Emotional Detox through Tantra and Tantra Bodywork that core represents Tantra laced with Tao teachings. Tantra allows expanding with consciousness and Tao integrates both male and female energies (Ying and Yan) to attain ‘oneness’, which is alignment with all that – is and the universal energy (also known as source energy). This alignment allows a person step up many levels of emotional intelligence which acts as a guidance system towards desired goals. Therefore Emotional Detox through Tantric Therapy that employs Yoni massage can contribute to the multiplication of awakened and conscious beings in this world.

Thus, the above outlines and elaborates “What is Sex therapy?” and how Tantric Therapy and Yoni massage are related to sex therapy.

Many have questioned Tantric Journey School of Healing and Awakening, what is sex therapy? And isn’t Tantric Therapy and the Yoni massage an outdated ambiguous practise?

To dispel the main myth about “Tantra is only about sex” it is good to know some Tantric sex practices do not have any physical contact of genitals. It is good to keep in mind the fundamental ideology of Tantric sex is about cultivating sexual energy within yourself to have a deeper understanding of yourself in order to connect to your partner who would do the same. Therefore Tantric sex is about energetically connecting with you and your partner to forge a bond beyond a physical realm to bring about love, intimacy, passion and the most vital ingredient – trust. The practice of Tantric sex with copulation or without copulation can heal a relationship or heal one partner who houses both emotional and physical pain.

Having worked with over 3000 women from all over the world spanning across U.S, Europe, U.K and Asia and having recognized the dire need of healing therapy to reconstruct people especially in London, I took the initiative set up Tantric Journey School of Healing and Awakening to help people learn the art of healing to anyone who wanted to become a healer. Thus, Tantric Journey became the first Tantric Therapy that employs Yoni massage in the UK and that was set apart from other Tantra remedies. Our, Tantric Therapy employs cellular memory, mind- body connection, quantum physics and other prominent researches that claim healing is a state of mind. Thus giving full proof and validation to the question “What is Sex Therapy?”.

Tantric Journey Tantric Therapy using Yoni massage can be set apart from many standard Tantra massages as every client I treat has always had near 100% success rate in healing. As I mentioned before, the Tantric Journey Bodywork is not purely intended for pleasure, the Yoni massage in Tantric Therapy is performed to heal past trauma such as sexual abuse, physical abuse and psychological abuse that is stored in the body’s cellular memory.

The above by now should be able to answer your question on “What is Sex Therapy?” and how does it differ from Tantric Therapy and the details of the Yoni massage.
