September 2005 -
C-Map (UK) are delighted to be supporting Gipsy Moth IV in her current circumnavigation of the Globe.
We have provided a worldwide portfolio of charts which will work in conjunction with the Simrad equipment onboard,
and will help guide her on her global voyage.
Gipsy Moth IV is the same 54ft ketch in which Sir Francis Chichester became the first to sail alone around the world in 1966-67.
The yacht has been renovated to make her seaworthy, yet retaining as many original features as possible.
The vessel was re-launched on 20th June 2005, and set sail on 25th September this year.
Her route, although subject to possible change, is: Plymouth, Gibraltar, Canary Islands, Antigua, Panama,
Galapogas Islands, Marquessas, Tahiti, New Zealand, Sydney, Cairns, Darwin, Bali, Singapore, Phuket, Sri Lanka, Dubai, Djibouti, Suez,
Crete, Malta, Gibraltar, Plymouth. Most of the legs are crewed by young people aged 16 - 22, and members of the yachting Press.
The whole project is estimated to take about two years.
